Dual Enrollment


The Web Tech classes are offered at Freedom High School to students as an elective course. Mr. Fiore has been teaching Web Design and Development for over 17 years.

Northern Virginia Community College, Woodbridge, has teamed up with Freedom High School to offer high school students the opportunity to take college classes at the same time they are earning credits for high school graduation. 

The high school and college curriculum will be combined together and taught at the same time during the regular class day at Freedom.  The Freedom High School teachers who teach these classes are also Adjunct Faculty members at Northern Virginia Community College. These classes are being taught to the standards and expectations required of all classes offered at Northern Virginia Community College.

Tuition is FREE!


Students that are in the Dual Enrollment Program will have a college transcript from Northern Virginia Community College.


INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY: WEB DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

Career Studies Certificate

IT Web Technologies
Suggested Grade Levels: 10-12

  • Eligible High School sophomore, junior, and senior students register for Design, Multimedia, and Web Technologies as a high school elective.
  • At the same time, they register for Introduction To Computer Applications (ITE115) and Web Design I (ITD110) at NOVA. 
  • After successful completion of the class, students will have earned a high school elective credit for graduation and 6 college credits towards a Web Design and Development Career Studies Certificate.

  • Intro. To Computer Applications (ITE115) 
    3 credits
    Covers computer concepts and internet skills, and uses a software suite which includes word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software to demonstrate skills.


    Web Design I (ITD110)
    3 credits
    Stresses a working knowledge of web site designs, construction, and management using HTML or XHTML. Includes headings, lists, links, images, image maps, tables, forms, and frames.


Advanced IT Web Technologies
Suggested Grade Levels: 10-12

  • Eligible High School junior and senior students register for Adv. Design, Multimedia, and Web Technologies as a high school elective.
  • At the same time, they register for Introduction to Telecommunications (ITN110) and Web Design II (ITD210) at NOVA.
  • After successful completion of the class, students will have earned a high school elective credit for graduation and 6 college credits towards a Web Design and Development Career Studies Certificate.

  • Intro. to Telecommunications (ITN100)
    3 credits
    Surveys data transmission systems, communication lines, data sets, network, interfacing, protocols, and modes of transmission. Emphasizes network structure and operation.


    Web Design II (ITD210)
    3 credits
    Incorporates advanced techniques in web site planning, design, usability, accessibility, advanced site management, and maintenance utilizing web editor software(s).
