Game Design and IT Web TechGame Design and Development Class
Suggested Grade Levels: 10-12

Gaming is not just fun and games, it is a serious industry that is even larger than Hollywood!  The gaming industry grosses more than $100 billion a year, proving that gaming is not child's play.

Students in Game Design and Development will learn about the full game development cycle including concept art, user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) development, coding non-player character behavior, and many other facets of the gaming experience. Students will also be working with 2D environments using Game Maker Studio 2 and 3D environments with Unity. This class is ideal for a student interested in becoming part of one of the most cutting-edge and largest growing industries.  Students should be proficient in Design and Multimedia which is taken in the "Communication Systems" class.

IT Web Technologies
Suggested Grade Levels: 10-12

  • Eligible High School sophomore, junior, and senior students register for Design, Multimedia, and Web Technologies as a high school elective.
  • At the same time, they register for Introduction To Computer Applications (ITE115) and Web Design I (ITD110) at NOVA. 
  • After successful completion of the class, students will have earned a high school elective credit for graduation and 6 college credits towards a Web Design and Development Career Studies Certificate.

  • Intro. To Computer Applications (ITE115) 
    3 credits
    Covers computer concepts and internet skills, and uses a software suite which includes word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software to demonstrate skills.


    Web Design I (ITD110)
    3 credits
    Stresses a working knowledge of web site designs, construction, and management using HTML or XHTML. Includes headings, lists, links, images, image maps, tables, forms, and frames.


Advanced IT Web Technologies
Suggested Grade Levels: 10-12

  • Eligible High School junior and senior students register for Adv. Design, Multimedia, and Web Technologies as a high school elective.
  • At the same time, they register for Introduction to Telecommunications (ITN110) and Web Design II (ITD210) at NOVA.
  • After successful completion of the class, students will have earned a high school elective credit for graduation and 6 college credits towards a Web Design and Development Career Studies Certificate.

  • Intro. to Telecommunications (ITN100)
    3 credits
    Surveys data transmission systems, communication lines, data sets, network, interfacing, protocols, and modes of transmission. Emphasizes network structure and operation.


    Web Design II (ITD210)
    3 credits
    Incorporates advanced techniques in web site planning, design, usability, accessibility, advanced site management, and maintenance utilizing web editor software(s).
