SCA

Film Friends

In lieu of a film studies elective, we will use this club to curate a presentation of films for our members to watch and analyze. Each film will be chosen on the basis of a particular aspect of film making or general artistry and will be bookended by guided discussions and review.

Student Voice Committees (SVCs) aim to create meaningful partnerships between students, educators, and administrators with the goal of enhancing the climate and culture of their school building. With the ultimate goal of including students in the decision-making process, SVCs help to:

1. Elevate student voice and perspective within their school and the division at large 

2. Strengthen the school community through action research and continuous improvement

3. Support students as they hone their leadership skills

Unified Sports

Unified sports is a team that brings students with and without disabilities together to enjoy sports and activities. The goal of Unified Sports is to make friends and build relationships. We currently play kickball and basketball and have cheer and track/field groups as well. We practice and play during the school day and have different activities going on all throughout the year. All members must meet academic and behavioral participation criteria to join/stay a member of the unified sports team.

African American History Club

The African American History Club is designed to engage students in supporting the growth of the African American history elective course, AP African American Studies, any courses related to African Diaspora, and the annual Black History Month program at FHS. Students participate in learning experiences surrounding the history and culture of African Americans including, but not limited to, annual field trips to the National Museum for African American History and Culture. Students also participate in and volunteer at the annual BHM program hosted at FHS. Students and sponsors encourage student to take courses like African American History and AP African American Studies to deepen their understanding of the African Diaspora. The goal of the club is to immerse students in classroom and extracurricular environments that foster a sense of joy and appreciation for African American history and culture and engage students in community service activities.

The ASA at FHS celebrates and promotes African Culture, provides a supportive network for African students, and fosters a sense of community through educational events, cultural activities, and social gatherings. Play a variety of board games and or card games. The focus is on healthy friendly interaction and occasional competition while providing students a place to feel welcome and entertained. Students will be barred from using electronic devices during club meetings.

International Club

The International Club’s mission is to support all activities related to our Annual International Night event. Our school boasts a rich diversity, with over 30 languages and cultures represented among our community, students, and staff. The club encourages teamwork and allows students to showcase their best performances.

Students in this club meet to learn dances to k-pop songs and talk to peers about their shared interest in k-pop music groups. Club members practice dances to be performed at pep rallies and international night.
