Graduation Coach

What is a Graduation Coach?

The Graduation Coach collaborates with counselors, social workers, teachers, administrators, school personnel, and community stakeholders to provide effective intervention services for students who need extra support to graduate.

The Graduation Coach provides individualized interventions and monitoring to ensure student success. Using an Early Warning Tracking System, the Coach can identify individual students who are not reaching their full potential based on their attendance, discipline, and course performance.

Graduation Coach services may include:

  • Analyzing data to identify students at risk of dropping out.
  • Dropout re-engagement.
  • Working with students to develop individual graduation plans.
  • Providing direct student support while building relationships.
  • Connecting parents and students with appropriate resources.
  • Encouraging parent involvement.
  • Providing parent and school staff workshops.
  • Supporting postsecondary planning.
  • Assisting in the facilitation of school-based dropout prevention and attendance teams.
  • Holding home visits/conferences.
  • Conducting attendance motivation/programs and campaigns.
  • Collaborating with other graduation coaches to research trends, patterns, and barriers.
  • Providing opportunities for tutoring and credit recovery.

Education is my passion and life calling. I’m a proud graduate of Gar-Field High School and product of Prince William County Public Schools. With 20 years of experience in education, I’ve made Freedom High School my home since 2010. As a mentor to new educators, sponsor of classes, and organizer of after-school events, I’m committed to fostering meaningful relationships. In addition to working with students to provide personalized support for on-time graduation, I serve as a lead on the restorative practice team and run the credit recovery program.
